Just Out of Reach
A surreal graphic novella about a young woman who tries to see her boyfriend after being separated for six months. However, her impromptu trip doesn’t take off as she had hoped; for her the journey is trying to get on a plane that leaves in about four hours. She finally ends up in a bar where this older woman, an oracle like figure probes about her relationship. It almost wordlessly narrates her experience of time slowing down and her feelings of longing, rush, anxiety, loss and annoyance all felt in one seemingly long day.
The final illustrations were created in graphite, printed in risograph and hand bound in an accordion format (54 pages, 11in x 17in spreads).
